A week is a useful unit of time because it is long enough for something to happen and short enough to begin again. A reset gives that beginning a little intention without asking you to become a different person.
1. Look back without turning it into a performance review
Start with three questions: What went well? What felt harder than it needed to? What are you proud of? Keep the answers concrete. A good conversation, a finished errand, or a night you went to bed on time all count. The goal is to collect information, not grade yourself.
2. Check the shape of the week
Open your calendar and look for the immovable pieces first. Notice travel, deadlines, appointments, and the evenings that are already full. This prevents a planning ritual from becoming a second calendar you have to maintain.
3. Choose fewer priorities
Pick three outcomes that would make the week feel worthwhile. Put the most important one first. Then write one sentence describing what “successful enough” looks like. A useful plan leaves room for the week to change.
4. Prepare the ordinary things
Decide on a few meals, refill an essential, clear a small surface, or put laundry where Monday-you will find it. Small home decisions are not separate from meaningful work; they reduce the number of decisions waiting for you.
5. Make a light money check-in
Look at bills or expenses expected this week and name one money decision you do not want to forget. This is awareness, not banking integration or a demand to solve everything tonight.
6. Protect energy and connection
Ask what would help you feel better: movement, sleep, food, recovery, or margin. Then name one person you want to connect with. Keep both answers kind and realistic. The best plan supports a life; it does not consume it.
7. Leave Monday a small gift
End with one question: What can I do tonight that Future Me will appreciate tomorrow morning? Set out what you need, write the first step, or make the morning decision now. Then stop. A reset should leave you with more room, not another obligation.
Ready to make it concrete? The EveryWeek Weekly Reset walks through these prompts and saves privately in your browser. When you are done, carry the decisions into the Weekly Planner and let the week begin.
